This project was commissioned by Widseth Smith Nolting to tell the story about how they redesigned a big chunk of Thief River Falls, MN.

The main challenge for this project was to answer the question “Hw do you tell a compelling story about concrete?”  The answer was to NOT make it a story about concrete!  By making it a “people story”, it became more easy to relate to and more interesting for the viewer.  Using our proven storytelling method, we found the people and locations that would allow us to tell a compelling tale about their new street.  It only took about twenty pre-interviews to find our perfect storytellers.

The technical challenge behind this project was finding how to show a mile-long street on video – and aerial provided the perfect solution.  By flying our heavy lifter cinema drone over key parts of the corridor, I was able to show a perspective on the project that just wasn’t available from the ground.

And hey.. it’s the first roundabout in northwestern Minnesota!
